PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) is a mineral mining company affiliated with Freeport-McMoRan (FCX) and Mining Industry Indonesia (MIND ID). PTFI mines and processes ore to produce concentrates containing copper, gold, and silver. We market these concentrates globally, with a primary focus on domestic copper smelter PT Smelting. Our operations are based in the remote highlands of the Sudirman Mountains, Mimika Regency, Papua Province, Indonesia.
The Grasberg mineral district in Papua, Indonesia, is home to one of the world’s largest copper and gold deposits. Currently, we are in the final phase of mining the Grasberg open pit. We are also engaged in multiple projects within the Grasberg mineral district, focusing on the development of several large-scale, long-life, high-grade underground mines. Altogether, these underground mines are expected to produce substantial amounts of copper and gold as we transition from open-pit to underground mining at Grasberg.
